Established in 1989 as a family-owned business, Essential is now into the second generation of management, Tim Nielsen, who cherishes the family-business values entrenched in the company founded by his father John. Located in Carrum Downs, Victoria, our facility is purpose-built to our requirements and to further expand our capabilities in local and international markets.

Our story still has many pages to be written and we are now seeking a Senior Flavourist to provide accurate and timely technical documentations that meet the customers’ needs and requirements and by providing the necessary technical support to both internal and external customers.

 

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

To be a perfect fit for this role you will have:

  • Bachelor of Science-Food Science – Food Technology and Nutrition or other related qualification
  • Advanced technical knowledge in food science, food chemistry and food technology
  • 10+ years experience as a Flavourist
  • Knowledge in using alternative raw materials
  • Skills in flavour development and flavour applications
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Willingness to share knowledge and mentor Trainee and Junior Flavourists
  • Technical training and accreditations
  • Preferred: Spray dried flavour development
  • Preferred: Professional memberships – AIFST – Professional, IFT – CFS; Society of Flavour Chemists
  • Positive attitude towards work and colleagues
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible
  • Passionate about food
  • Drivers licence

 

 THE ROLE

You will be…

 

  • Carrying out flavour development and submit the flavours within the required timeframes on both reactive and proactive projects
  • Competent in matching flavours or replicating flavours requested by customers within the agreed timeline
  • Knowledgeable in using alternative raw materials when a required raw material is not currently accessible
  • Obtain knowledge on flavour ingredients and process technologies
  • Effectively use relevant Essential operating systems
  • Provide technical assistance to both internal and external stake holders
  • Delivery of Essentials ‘Flavour Academy’ training program
  • Mentor Trainee and Junior Flavourists
