Essential Flavours & Ingredients Pty Ltd commenced business in 1989, established by current Managing Director John Nielsen. From humble beginnings working out of a laboratory in Mentone, Essential has seen substantial business growth and is now in Rowville in its 3rd premises, which were remodeled specifically for its needs in 2000. 

Our Commitment

Our service to our customers is unrivalled. We have an extensive range of locally developed and manufactured flavours in both liquid and spray-dried form. We pride ourselves on the fact that whilst many of our competitors are increasing their minimum order sizes and lead-times we are flexible to meet individual customer’s requirements. At any one time we will hold more than 10MT of flavour in stock at our Rowville site to ensure rapid delivery. All of our flavours are made in HACCP approved facilities with tight Quality Control procedures to ensure you receive top quality flavours in first class condition.


At Essential we have a large commitment to innovation with 40% of our team being dedicated to development. To compliment our local creation we also have global business relationships with like minded flavour houses to ensure we can provide flavour solutions for our customers.


Our Markets

Our Key market is the Asia-Pacific region. Essential’s traditional markets have been our own backyard of Australia and New Zealand and these will continue to be a focus going forward. However, utilising our global network we can service our customers no matter their location.
